Book review suggestions for History classes?

I have to do a book review in two different classes this semester. One is for Colonial Latin American History and one is for History of the Middle Ages. I've been scouring the library, but thought I'd ask for suggestions. The books can be fiction or non, but they must deal with the time periods covered in each class. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Already on that, greenthumb. I'm not looking for a way out of homework, just thought someone might know an interesting book I might not run into in my library.

Don't waste your time waiting for answers. Log off answers and the Google: 1. "Colonial Latin America" +history;
2. "History of the Middle Ages". You will find a multitude of good sources to research.
